I own two of these lights. The 400 watt metal halide, and the 175 watt MH. I am a residential building contractor who specializes in remodels and structural repairs. I thought at first that this light would get broken, especially the bulb. This light is very durable, does not get hot (it has a built in fan), is extremely bright yet doesn't blind you. it's just an awesome light. The stand up lights get so hot, the bulbs break, they fall over...fire hazards. This light is the way to go!!! Highly recommend it.

The 400 watt is definitely the light to buy, even for smaller spaces, as it really lights up the space and amplifies any defects you may have in your drywall, trim, paint, etc.

The light did arrive with a clunking noise when rocked side to side making me think something was broken inside the case. After taking the case apart I discovered the noise was caused by the counterweights and transformer sliding back and forth on a plastic groove. It would be better if they secured these in some fashion (silicon maybe) to avoid the customer thinking something was wrong with the light.

My only other criticisms are the plastic casing is not weatherproof and maybe a little light weight. It would be nice to be able to use it outside in the rain or snow without having to worry about shorting it out. I was hoping for a heavy duty weatherproof light and this one is neither. I do think it will work great for indoor projects and am overall happy with my purchase.

I have a residential re-work decorating service with myself and three full time helpers. For years I carried three 1000 watt halogen lights on a pole in my van. Tripping circuit breakers all the time when using other power tools with these lights. For years I was replacing the fixtures due to getting crushed in my van, falling over and cracking in multiple places. Bulbs replaced over and over. Contact pins corroding and rendering worthless. Burning myself from the intense heat. Etc. etc.

These lights are a Godsend. I love them! They are indestructible. They won't even tip over. Beautiful WHITE light that is like daylight. I bought four of them I am so happy. I have way too many tools. But these lights are on the top of the list as the best thing I have ever bought for my business. The bulbs will last for thousands of hours!! Even if you give this light a huge drop kick as hard as you can. The bulb will laugh at you. No part of the fixture will burn you, plastic can touch it with no problem.

Cons: If you loose power on these for a split second it takes 15 minutes to reset and 5 minutes for full brightness. You need to buy your own extension cord to power the unit.

This is a great worklight. Makes day out of night in the immediate area you're working in. It would be nice if the light could be focused or directed to one area out of the box but you have to buy an additional accessory for this. It is heavy and well made. Replacement bulbs run on the spendy side ~~$40-50.Hopefully I'll get several years of use out of the one that came with the light.The handle has held up so far but seems like it could break if you pull on the assembly too hard.
